Color blindness is a visual deficiency that affects the ability to distinguish certain colors. The most common types are protanopia (red-blind), deuteranopia (green-blind), and tritanopia (blue-blind).
Approximately 8% of men and 0.5% of women of Northern European descent have some form of color vision deficiency. Deuteranopia (green-blind) is the most common type.
Use high contrast colors, don't rely on color alone to convey information, use patterns or icons alongside colors, and test your designs with our Color Blindness Simulator and Contrast Checker tools.
The main types are Protanopia (red-blind), Deuteranopia (green-blind), Tritanopia (blue-blind), and Monochromacy (total color blindness). Each affects color perception differently.
